Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The body of Trinamool Congress councillor Rakesh Pari was found hanging inside the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) office located near Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya in Harin Ghata’s Mohanpur area on Thursday evening. Pari represented Ward No. 2 of Harin Ghata Municipality and was a leader within the TMCP.
According to police, the deceased was discovered by his colleagues who immediately informed Mohanpur police. The police arrived promptly at the scene and shifted the body to Harin Ghata Rural Hospital, where the attending doctor declared Pari dead.
Following the incident, multiple TMC leaders and workers gathered at the hospital. The district leadership of the Trinamool Congress issued statements expressing their sorrow over the death. No details about any suicide note or other materials were reported by the authorities.
The exact cause of death remains undetermined at this time. The police have started an investigation and are awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause. They are also collecting statements from witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area as part of the ongoing inquiry.
